If you have a couple of days there, this is what you and your family can do.
Climb Mount Snowdon
The largest mountain in Wales. Mount Snowdon dominates the gorgeous Snowdonia landscape. For even beginners the walk isn’t too tricky (please read our safety guide) from Llanberis, but even if that’s too tricky you can stop halfway in the cafe or even take the train up.
For more details on Snowdon please read our guide to Snowdon.
To give it it’s proper name: Dinorwig Power Station’s visitor centre. Electric Mountain is an hour long tour of the power station, one of the largest hydroelectric plants in the UK, housed inside the largest cave in Europe. It’s a small charge to go on the tour of the plant, but visiting the visitors centre – with permanent and guest fixtures – is completely free.

A shorter, heritage route running on 4ft Narrow Gauge was proposed just 5 years later. The railway was officially opened in 1971. The diesel locomotives run ten times a day at peak times. Fares are under £8 for a round trip.
